Who Must Arsenal Sign To Be Contenders?

When Unai Emery was chosen to replace Arsene Wenger, many fans were hopeful that the Spanish manager can lead Arsenal to glory. Not this season, of course – Emery outlined a plan for the coming years to improve the squad and possibly challenge for the title. Although he brought in quality reinforcements, Arsenal has still failed to mix into title contention. It’s obvious that the team needs further signings before it can challenge Liverpool and Manchester City.

At the moment, Arsenal has virtually no chances to win the Premier League, being given odds of 450/1 at www.novibet.co.uk. With a few new signings for next year, though, those odds could look much better for next season.

Kostas Manolas

It’s no secret that Arsenal has been looking to sign the Greek centre-back from AS Roma for quite some time. And, although rumors have cooled off after the summer, some insiders are claiming that Arsenal is still eager to sign Manolas.

He would improve the sometimes porous defence in many ways. Manolas’ lucid play would give Arsenal another option at centre-back, reinforcing a solid defence with a quality player. It’s unclear whether Roma would be willing to part ways with the defender, but if he pushes for a transfer, chances are he may get it.

Denis Suarez

It’s no wonder that Arsenal needs more creativity in midfield. Aaron Ramsey is (probably) leaving, Ozil is just not that consistent, and Mkhitaryan has been great for stretches only. Iwobi, Xhaka, and Torreira are good options, but Arsenal needs someone to provide clear assists to the front.

Emery thinks that that player should be Denis Suarez. The Barcelona outcast has long been speculated as a new Arsenal player, yet a deal hasn’t materialized yet. Emery knows Suarez well form their Sevilla days, so if the manager believes he can help, who are we to disagree?

Ousmane Dembele

The Gunners’ front is covered well, yet a left winger with great speed would surely help. That winger might be Barcelona’s prodigy Ousmane Dembele. Ill-discipline has made the French wonderkid an outcast for a big stretch of the first half of the season at Barca, sparking potential rumors about an Arsenal transfer.

However, his recent displays have reinstated belief that Dembele could be a part of Barca’s attack, so it’s unclear whether Arsenal could persuade the Catalan team to sell their Neymar replacement. If that transfer fails, Christian Pavon has been namedropped as a potential signing.

Nicolas Pepe

The Lille forward is once again having a great season and has once again been linked to Arsenal after the club failed to him last summer. Arsenal is in need of wingers and Pepe can play on both sides. He will also allow Aubameyang to move in a central position where he’ll be more lethal.

Imagine a trio up front of Dembele, Pepe, and Auba – it would surely be a sight to see. All three wingers-forwards are known for their blistering pace and eye for goal and will surely put Arsenal over the top.
