Europa League: All Eggs in One Basket for Arsenal

While it is true that the Gunners could not outperform Atletico Madrid on the first leg of the Europa League semi-finals, that does not mean that Arsenal was not in good form to counter their opponents.

Just look at the second half of the game! Gunners displayed an excellent game, but it ended with the draw due to the mistake by Koscielny. Otherwise, the day would have told a completely different story.

Before heading to the second leg of the semifinals on May 4, it is time to make a quick analysis of the performance of the team and its prospects. Things are different in Madrid, especially when Arsenal found to be more vulnerable in the opponents’ soil.

Strengthening Lineup

The team has a wonderful lineup, but a few mistakes cost them very much. That is what happened on the first leg match. The Gunners displayed the better game on that day though Madrid was struggling with ten players.

Sources close to the team reveals that Henrikh Mkhitaryan is expected to make a return in the Madrid soil. The midfielder would strengthen the lineup of the team further and improve the chances.

The defence of the team was giving a good overall performance in the first leg, except the mess up that penalized by the goal. However, Arsene Wenger already confirmed his dissatisfaction over the result and confirmed some better plans for the upcoming game.

Since Wenger is making a bid adieu to the team, he would look for some grand farewell with some impressive wins to cherish and fans and the management alike. Therefore, he would try to make an all-out performance against the Madrid side on coming Thursday.

Also, the team members have a great connectivity with their long-serving coach. They would try to give their best efforts on the grounds to send their manager with some great moments.

Additionally, the team takes on Manchester United on April 29 in the Premier League match. It gives the management to effectively strategize and test plans on the grounds before heading to the important match.

More Focus on Europa League

Since the team had a forgettable performance in the Premier League, it would look for the total destruction in the Europa League. Arsenal is in a situation that it cannot compromise with anything other than the title this time.

Now, it is clear that the team has extremely poor chances to make it to the top four of the Premier League. It means that the team can only make a presence in the Champions League by grabbing the Europa League.

Since the game against Manchester United on Sunday was insignificant for both the teams, Arsenal should try to seal the issues with its defence. If the team could make an excellent performance, it can advance to Thursday with more confidence.

Interestingly, the facts make the intensity of the game going up. It is visible in the traffic of sports betting platforms like, karamba sport, you can bet on either team because Madrid are strong at home, but you are never sure about Arsenal. They usually play better when nothing is expected of them.

Do or Die for the Team

The second leg game is a do or die match for the team for the season. Wenger should avoid the mistakes did in the first leg, especially after the team strength of Atletico Madrid shrunk.

Should he employ a 3-man defence and better formation in the game? Wenger rarely changes his formation and tactics, preferring one shape for an entire season.

But, at this crucial juncture, he is expected to be more flexible on his strategies and come up with some real-time plans to meet the challenges. A 3-5-2 formation can provide better results for the team through strengthening the defence without hurting the attacking play.

It is interesting to see whether the Gunners are coming with better weapons for the battle.
